Why?
Kyoto is a culturally significant city in Japan with a number of world-famous tourist locations. However these locations can become intensely busy with shoulder-to-shoulder crowds, particularly in peak cherry blossom and autumn foliage seasons.
Kyoto city set up a number of live stream webcams in an effort to educate and encourage tourists to visit these spots at less busy times. (They can be found individually on this crowd congestion forecast). This page was built to provide a single view of the live stream feeds so I could easily monitor the intensity of crowds at different times of day, in preparation for our first trip to Japan.
